My New Year's Resolution

15 days to go and it's already Christmas. You know what, I am not really excited because it will just happen but of course, I will help for the preparation and for some expenses.

What I am excited for is my New Year's Resolution. Mine is not the usual resolution which is to aim personal attitudes such as: punctuality, gain or lose weight, to be a good citizen, not to have a boyfriend for a year (hahaha! remember this of a friend) and any other resolutions we already heard it every year but nothing fulfilled. These kinds of resolutions only needs DISCIPLINE and SELF-MOTIVATION.

I admit, punctuality was my problem when I was in school. I never make this as a resolution because from elementary to college I was also a late comer. Hahaha! Now, I am already working. What's the sense of being always a late comer? Discipline and self-motivation was the reason. I have no money if I always come late at work. Practicality sets in.

Here's the list of my New Year's Resolution:
1. to buy a digital camera
2. having an out of town trip or vacation
3. to have fun
4. to save money so that I could afford all those things above
5. also save money for my future
6. hardworking

The #6 list, it needs discipline and self-motivation but I have goals for it and those five are the reasons.

What is Happening to Philippines?

I really don't know what to write last night because I don't have anything good to write. With the latest news in my country, I think there's nothing good about it, almost bad news.

Well, I tell you what is happening to the Philippines:

Maguindanao Massacre
Maguindanao is a part of the Philippine province located in the Autonomous Region of Muslim Mindanao or ARMM.

Why it is called Maguindanao Massacre? On November 23, 2009, mass graves were found in Ampatuan, a town of Maguindanao, who the victims were civilians, journalists and politicians.

Journalists were about to cover the filing of candidacy for Esmael Mangudatu, vice mayor of Buluan town. Datu Unsay mayor Andal Ampatuan Jr., the son of the Maguindanao governor Datu Andal Ampatuan Sr., was challenged by Ampatuan for gubernatorial election. Mangudatu's wife, his two sisters, lawyers and motorists were also killed. Possible reason maybe is the rivalry of these two clans. 57 people were killed including the media men. Now, the Philippines, is the second dangerous country for journalists, next to Iraq.

Former President Fidel V. Ramos wants President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo resign
President Arroyo already formalized her candidacy to run for Congress for the next year's election on December 1, 2009 while Former President Fidel Ramos wants her to resign on her post.

As what FVR had said about his understanding of that particular aspect of governance is that as president, you must resign your position.

He also questioned the 50 visits to Pampanga this year. He said that why did she have to spend so much time (in Pampanga) instead of making 50 trips to Mindanao to ensure the peace and tranquility of those communities and to put in place feudal warlords.

Ramos also said that it would be unfair that Mrs. Arroyo runs for congress while she remains on her post. He also said that it is not democratic. He also added that Mrs. Arroyo has the power of appointments, the commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces and the PNP (Philippine National Police), the controller of the budget, the President and the head of the state of government.

I am Saving for a Digital Camera

Hmmm... I am frustrated every time I go to shopping malls and walked on by in a camera shop. When I was a kid, I really want to be a photographer but it's impossible. I bought my a camera with my own expenses when I was in high school. It was just a manual camera, Konica Centuria 10, with film on it. Now the flash had been broken and I had never fixed it since. I can only use it on daytime or outdoor. Also, I am tired of going to photo centers to have my pictures develop.

My manual camera is still alive even though I only seldom use it is because I have to buy a film and pay for it to have it develop. There are still snapshots not yet develop and the film isn't through yet. I think I took these one or two years ago.

A digital camera is very expensive at least Php 4,000.00 unlike with the manual which is Php 1,000.00 and below. The advantage of a digital camera is you can easily scan the pics you want to reject or save it on your computer and upload it to the world wide web like in your own blogs and to social networking sites.

My purpose is to take pictures when I'm travelling, the beautiful sceneries itself. I just wish somebody will give donations. Hahaha! I hope so! ^_^

Adam Lambert at AMA Performance

Adam Lambert kissed a guy on his performance at American Music Awards performance. The conservatives are in rage with it, the others adore it.

He admitted he just got carried away with the song but he never apologize. He also didn't mind if there are kids watching the show because it was already late at night. He is not a baby-sitter but a performer.

Guess The Sketch on Facebook

Here is another new application I just found out on Facebook. It's Guess The Sketch. The game is just so simple. You just guess the sketch made by other player and if it's your turn, the program will tell you what to draw. It's really fun and very relaxing game.

New Moon Movie on November 20

Everyone is excited for the second Twilight Saga. I never read the book unlike Harry Potter but I just seen the movie from my personal downloads. At first, I really don't know what's the story of the movie but the main actor, Robert Pattinson, I first saw him from the movie Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire where he played as the very handsome Cedric Diggory. That is the reason I get hooked with the movie.

Now, what keeps it more exciting??? For me, it's the transformation of Jacob played by Taylor Launter. He was not really that buff on the first movie. He is really hot (forgive me for saying this! Hahaha!).

Belated Happy Birthday to Me!

Yesterday was my birthday, November 10. Oh oh! I'm 21 years old now but still looks like 18 years old. Hahaha! Just kidding! I never had a party because we were a victim of akyat-bahay last week. I just bought a Goldilocks cake as a gift for myself and also a My Melody stuff toy. It was so cute. Unfortunately, I never had the chance to take a snap shot of my cake T_T because I don't have my own camera. My partner gave me a Hello Kitty stuff toy. He only spent P15 for the three tokens in World of Fun. Of course I didn't forget to go to Sto. Niño church and thanked God for the blessings, good health and nothing happened to us about the trouble we had experienced.

Ask the Editor at Merriam-Webster.com

In scribbling or writing, I always depend on Merriam-Webster.com for my vocabularies. As possible, I want to write with correct grammar even though I'm only using simple English here on my blog.

What is more interesting here is the video about Ask the Editor. The video I've seen is about discussing Affect vs. Effect. I was a little bit confused then about these words. Ooh thanks! It really helped a lot. ^_^

All Saint's Day Tradition

All Saint's Day is the day of the dead. This is the time when families gather together at cemeteries visiting their dead loved ones. Grave sites are decorated with flowers. These also includes lighting of candles and offering prayers, special foods and drinks.

Last night, I went to my boyfriend's house (again) and I witnessed their tradition which I never used to. It is called sangpit or the calling of the souls of their relatives or the souls from purgatory.

To know more about the tradition I witnessed last night, click here.

Happy Halloween!

Today is November 1 and our families are going to the cemetery to visit our loved ones and giving prayers to them. I never had the time to be online last night because I was exhausted from work and just went to bed when arrived home. Before that I went to my boyfriend's house and watched a horror movie. Here I am again screaming and screaming at the top of my lungs. I just seldom watch this kind of movie. It's really creepy. Today just want to greet you Happy All Saint's Day.

Chiz Escudero's Resignation from Nationalist People Coalition

Sen. Chiz Escudero was expected to announce his presidential plans this day of October 28 but everyone was shocked for the announcement that he resigns from NPC (Nationalist People Coalition).

He said that someone who runs for president should not be allied with any political party. He doesn't want to be chained with any party.

He did the announcement in front of the crowd at Club Filipino in Greenhills, San Juan City. He always said that the decision of running or not running of a particular position, should be personal and not be passed by anyone.

He was asked if he is really running for presidency but he said he has yet to decide about it.

Check out the video during his announcement:

Have Fun with PLDT Watchpad

photo from Nuffnang.com

When I was a kid, I always dreamed to have a cable tv so that I could watch Cartoon Network everyday. Unfortunately, my parents cannot afford it. Now that I am older, I got interested on educational shows like National Geographic and I became a fan of movies. I knew there were lots I have never watched before and I knew I can only find it on cable and I won't spend renting dvd's. Today, I have an internet connection and I searched for movies to download. My father also requested me to look for quality films because he really enjoys it. My family loves watching here in our computer. Actually, it really takes time to download.

Recently, PLDT myDSL launched the PLDT Watchpad. This the new technology introduced by Philippine Long Distance Telephone company for the subscribers for easy access of watching TV over the internet. I was hired on October 14. It was my first time to use Odesk and I forgot that I still haven't unzipped the files I downloaded from it. Maybe for the coming days, my earnings will grow. Hehehe!

Sad news in the world of entertainment! Stephen Gately died on Saturday at the age of 33 in Spain. He was with a holiday with his partner Andrew in Majorca, Spain. The Philippine Blog Awards

I never thought there is a Filipino Blogging Community which is called "The Philippine Blog Awards". It is about giving recognition to outstanding blogs but not limited to the Filipino Blogging Community. I just surfed around and found it interesting. Yes, you can vote which are nominated for certain categories. You can vote but I can't. Hahahaha! It is because I never had one already established before June 2009 (too bad for me).

A lot were nominated for the Blogger's Choice Special Award. I clicked some of it and you got to be amazed. Wow! They really spend time for it. Just getting inspirations from them.

Could anyone suggest how to improve mine? Any advice? Thanks!

Anyway, CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL NOMINEES FOR THE PHILIPPINE BLOG AWARDS. ^_^

Dove Soap, Good for the Skin

I am a fan of Dove on Facebook. I've been using it for two years since I got my skin allergy. The reason of my allergy was because of eating chicken everyday due to my previous job and I was prone to dust. I've tried another soaps recommended by a doctor but it didn't help me. I've got skin rashes. My allergy got worst and the soap was so expensive. I think it was Php 150.00 per box. If I use the it on my face, my pimples get worst too.

When I use this, I feel refreshed for there is no harsh reaction on my skin. No flaky white lines to be seen when scratched. It has moisturizing cream so no need for a lotion afterward. Unlike with the previous, I found red spots on my skin and it was itchy. Maybe it is acidic and I have to buy a lotion to keep my skin moisturize which is a waste of money.

Oh! By the way, Christmas is coming. My friends out there or anyone out there who has plan of giving gifts to me, Dove products would be appreciated. I love the White Beauty bar soap. Just drop me a message. Thanks. ^_^

Let's campaign for real beauty!

Pinoy Big Brother Double Up

After one year and four months, the Pinoy Big Brother House is now open for new set of housemates. Magical was the theme of the opening of the show. The house is so cool and colorful which is inspired by Van Gogh's paintings. A lot of questions have been raised why the new season is called "DOUBLE UP".

Double Up because there are TWINS on the show. Identical twins to be exact. Not just a pair but TWO PAIRS OF TWINS, all males. The show is very exciting for this first task given to the twins. Lots of twists and happenings on the show and you've got to watch the show if the twins could accomplished the task given by Big Brother.

Manila's Flood Reason

It took how many days before the flood went out. There were questions why Manila was flooded for long days when in fact typhoon Ondoy was on it's way out of the country. A geodetic engineer who is an expert said that it is because of the drainage system of Manila. The people who started the project of wrong drainage system did not consult them. Water can't flow immediately through the rivers like Pasig river because of it's narrow drainage and that's why water was block within the area. He compared Manila as a heart which is having a heart attack that blood flows to a section of heart muscle and blocked. The only solution is having a heart bypass, he said, by making drainage through Manila Bay and/or Laguna de Bay. If another typhoon comes, the flood tragedy will not ever happen again.

How To Get A Job

During my second year college, I had a part-time job in a fast-food chain. The reason I took part-time is because I want to gain working experience. Fast-food chains are the stepping stone to find greater opportunities in the future after graduation. There is advantage on having a part-time even though you are undergraduate or stopped college for financial reason.

Like me, I stopped college on my third year level because of money. I only had six months on my previous working experience. I searched through MyNimo, Jobstreet and any sites you can find on the net. For those who are living in Cebu you can have Cebu Jobs. Any sites you can add on my list?

You can try hunting works on malls. I've tried this when it happened I strolled at SM-Cebu on one of their sports boutiques with their post hiring for a sales staff. You can also try calling your friends, relatives and acquaintances if they can recommend you for openings and this commonly called as employee referrals. It also happened to me and a schoolmate from high school suggested to apply on this BPO (Business Process Outsourcing) company.

You have to be confident. This is the most important thing in looking for a job. You must assure that you fit for the position.

Prepare your resume. List all your skills in your resume and any working experiences if you have.

Search about the company. This is also important if this is your prospective company. Memorize the mission-vision, if possible and what does the company do.

Prepare your answers for the possible questions. You can practice it in front of the mirror so that you can see your reflection as the interviewer.

Any additional tips? Feel free to post. Thanks. ^_^

Kawasan Falls in Cebu

The first time I got to Kawasan Falls when I was 4 years old together with my relatives. Too bad I was too young then I didn't enjoy much my first experience for I didn't know how to swim. After 14 years was my second time around there together with my relatives again. Even though I already knew how to swim but I was wearing a life jacket. The temperature of the water is freezing cold for I was afraid of having a foot cramp.

This is the view I took from my camera (Sorry it's not digital).

This is the grotto with my nephew.

Together with my cousins (from digicam of my cousin)

From Naga, we traveled for 3 hours (we did stop overs especially in Carcar for buying foods) to Badian. Before we arrived to the falls, we walked for 30 minutes (Am I right?) from the highway. The water is so clear even though you haven't arrived yet to the place, there's a feeling you want to jump to the river. We were at the second floor. Kawasan falls is so amazing.

Fine Dining in Casa Verde

As I was rummaging my drive D in my computer, I found lots of pictures on it and I was stuck with the mouth-watering photo (I am hungry again!). I remember the day when an ex-friend (Don't mind the ex) treat me for lunch.

Casa Verde is located in 69 Lim Tian Teng St. Cebu City, Cebu between F. Ramos and Jones Avenue. It was my first time there and I didn't know what food to order.

This is Brian's Baby Back Ribs. Can't you see the picture that I was so happy with a big smile on it? (Plese don't mind my tanned-skin for I had a great summer before I ate in Casa Verde ^_^) It was free and the baby back ribs was only mine (Hmmm... I am starving again). This is very big for I am a person with small appetite. I suggest that this baby back ribs suits for those couple who is planning for a date. I love the sauce and the meat is so tender feels like it's melting inside your mouth, no need to chew for a long minute.

I had no regrets for it was for free. I mean no regrets for those who really pay for it because the price is reasonable. Last year, it was Php 150.00, I don't know now. Maybe I'll be going back in Casa Verde when occasion calls for it with my own expense. Promise!
