7.2 Magnitude Earthquake in the Visayas

The earthquake happened on a Tuesday morning at 8. I was asleep when my father shouted to get out of the house then things went on shaking. The feeling was unbelievable like you were in a movie. The shaking lasted for less than a minute but it was the longest I felt. I was with my mom and dad in between of the two houses. Last year we had two earthquakes on February and August. I went outside of the gate when the shaking stopped.

I immediately grabbed my bags and gadgets in case we need to evacuate. I hurriedly charged my gadgets especially my cellphones.

We felt several aftershocks until now. It was an uncomfortable sleep on the first night the earthquake happened but I made sure to eat on time. Several churches in Cebu and Bohol were destructed including Basilica del Sto. Nino de Cebu and Baclayon Church in Bohol.

Yesterday, mom went to Basilica del Sto. Nino with my brother so I was left at home alone. I decided to play Xbox Kinect in order not to be bothered with the aftershock.

The image above was a photo of me while playing the xbox. Indeed, it was effective because I was moving and I worried less. I have read friends' FB status about the aftershock while I was playing. If I wasn't playing, then I would be crazy alone at home.

The aftershock will last in a week. 

Night of Fun at Lakwatsa Resto Lounge

Yesterday was the start of the day being jobless despite of my 4th year anniversary in blogging and working online. It was sort of mixed emotions because I don't know if I should be happy or sad. Well, I am not totally sad because of the thought that I'll be traveling in and out of the country without a job to mind. It will be almost a month of not having a full-time job but I still have part time or on-call basis job. Anyway, I really need a breath of fresh air and it's my way of celebrating the anniversary, the gift of traveling.

To start off the day, I went to Lakwatsa Resto Lounge last night with fellow bloggers and press people to have fun of Ng Khai's Media Celebration for Press Freedom Week and 20th Anniversary Celebration.

Sumptuous Dinner

For the dinner, they prepared Chinese, Korean and Japanese dishes but I only ate the familiar Chinese foods. Kimchis and sushis are not my type. :P

10G troupers

10G troupers performed last night wearing costumes from different ethnic groups in the Philippines. The resto lounge was called Lakwatsa it is because these performers are showcasing different cultures and like they bring you to different places in one setting, thus Lakwatsa is to travel.

You've Been Facebooked casts showed us the preview of the musical. We had a hearty laugh it's because it was something most of us Facebook users can relate.

We played Bingo but I never had the chance to win even once. The prizes were really cool like 22 inches LCD TV, an HP printer, Microsoft mouse, and a speaker.

Etsy Craft Party Cebu 2013

Last Saturday of June 22, 2013, I went to Ayala at Bo's Coffee - Fullybooked to join the first ever Etsy Craft Party in Cebu organized my Marryl of marrylallwrite.com. I reminisced that I was also a craft artist *ahem* a long time ago since I was into practicing embroidery and cross-stitching during elementary, and crocheting in high school. I got addicted and bought several threads and yarns. I created several bags and cellphone pouches through crocheting.

Passport Processing in DFA Cebu

Last Monday, I went to Department of Foreign Affairs at Pacific Mall in Mandaue City. I arrived there beyond 8AM because I thought that there were only few people after the Sinulog festival but still there were a lot. I arrived there and received no priority number.

My first time there was totally epic fail. I went back on my way, passed Cebu City Health and realized that I should get my local birth certificate although I already had my copy of NSO birth certificate. I just made sure that if ever my NSO will get rejected, the local BC will save my @$$. So then I got mine, after that I went to Sto. Niño and lastly, went to the bank to pay my credit card bill.

The next day, I decided to wake up early at 3AM. I needed to be there before 6AM because of the priority number. My boyfriend accompanied me. So as a first time applicant, here are some of the requirements I brought with me:

• NSO Birth Certficate
• Local Birth Certficate
• Transcription of Records
• Driver's License
• TIN Card
• Voter's Certificate

I was right, my NSO BC got rejected because the data inputs were not that clear so you really need a local BC. They say that NSO BC and at least 2 government ID's were enough as requirements. But the more requirements you will have to submit, the better.

My priority number was 180 and told me to be back at 11AM. We had our breakfast at Jollibee, just killing time and roamed around the mall. I brought my netbook with me but never got the chance to work although I saw Coffee Dream for a free Wi-Fi (only if you bought something there). We just busied ourselves chatting, munching potato fries and sipping buko shake.

It was quarter to 2PM I lined for the processing of passport. They checked my requirements and asked me if I go for regular or express. I chose regular for P950 since I am not in a hurry and the express is for P1,200.

Everything went smoothly, I paid P950 waited my name to be called, ID capture, checked the printed data if it's correct, got my receipt with a note that states I'll be back on February 27, 2013 to claim my passport. Yay!

Well, I am very excited which country to go to but I need to save money for travel. *_*

Adventure Cafe in Balamban, Cebu

This adventure was not really that planned because I was told by Rachellyn before the day itself. When I woke up in the morning, I just asked my mom on the spot about the trip and she said yes immediately. Rachellyn and I met first, bought food for lunch then met the rest of the pack (Glaiza, RC and Nora) at Ayala Terminal.

We rode a V-Hire going to Balamban with the fare cost PhP 110.00. Most of us were our first time at the Transcentral High-way. It was raining a bit then the road went foggy, kind of scary too.

Okay, several things are happening to me right now.  Although there was a slight bad news but still I can handle it because losing that something is really an advantage for me what is happening this week.

Yesterday, I called the customer service of Globelines Broadband and requested for an upgrade of the internet connection.  I am so excited to look for another job maybe next week or on August.

Last July 3, 2012, we had our round trip to Cebu South.  So from Naga, we visited or passed by the churches: Carcar, Sibonga, Argao, Boljoon, Oslob, Samboan, Malabuyoc, and Alegria.  I really had fun with the South of Cebu trip.

AdamRox 4th Year and 11 Months

Uhm, I don't have the pictures of us together for today because it is in Adam's cellphone.  Anyway July 4, 2012 and next month will be our 5th year anniversary.  We watched a movie at SM Cinema for PhP 25.00 only and funny that it was our first time to watch a LOVE STORY together.

So anyway, I'll end this post here and it's 12:37 AM already.  I have to wake up early for we are going for SUROY SUGBO NORTH!

Random Blogging # 1 - Bored!

Earthquake Here in Cebu

So today, I am really busy doing stuffs online.  I am having a headache right now because I am used to wake up at 11 o'clock in the morning but there were customers waiting for me for their resume as early as nine.  I am working home-based for Fotografi Rox.

Still I am in front of my computer.  At almost 12 noon, my sister was watching Showtime.  While working for my online job, my computer was shaking.  My sister and I both shouted, "Nag linog! (It's shaking!)" I was going to post a status on Facebook but it went black out.  While it was shaking for few minutes, I didn't manage to get out because I was protecting the computer not to fell down.

I also grabbed my cellphone and called my boyfriend because he wasn't at home.  His phone could not be reached.  I had the time talking to him in the afternoon.  He even told me that he was biking from Bulacao to Lapu-Lapu (going to work) but he didn't feel anything. I called him again and he already felt the aftershocks.  I am just really worried.

After few minutes, electricity went back.  Facebook News Feeds were all about the earthquake.  Of course, we also turned on the TV or radio for the news.

The aftershock happened on these (estimated/accurate) time:

• 2nd: Before 2:00 PM
• 3rd: 6:10 PM
• 4th-6th: aftershocks between 7:34 PM to 8:00 PM, small gaps each.

I didn't feel the 6th time because I was standing. I didn't panic but I am scared.  Scared because I still have plans to get married and have children in the future. I was like, "Is this really the end of the world? Please don't let it happen Lord!"

Right now, my head is still aching.  I wonder if I have to continue my online job right now.  I want to sleep but I have to be awake.  I already told some of my clients about the earthquake happening here in Cebu.

Post Celebration of our 4th Year Anniversary in Casa Verde

This is a very late post but it's still August, right? August 4 is our official day but we celebrated it after that day because Friday was his day off.  It was our second time in Casa Verde together.  I think I haven't blog about it.  Anyway, we really enjoyed our date because it was really mouthwatering.  This Casa Verde is in Ayala.  Their main branch is in F. Ramos and their other branch is at The Walk, IT Park.

First Time in Toledo, Cebu

My previous post mentioned that I was in Toledo, Cebu.  Now, I'll just share my experience there.  Yes, it's my first time in Toledo with my mom.  Toledo is next to Naga on the west side.  I never thought that it is an hour travel just like traveling from Naga to Cebu City.  Also the fare is very expensive because it's PhP40.00 from Naga to Toledo while it's PhP25.00 from Naga to Cebu City.

We never went to the main city but in Sangi, Toledo City, Cebu.  My mom and I could see how huge the area is and it's a city surrounded by mountains.  By the way, we rode on a bus going to Balamban.  We were not very familiar with the place so we asked help from a konduktor (someone who collects our money for the fare.). The purpose of going there was to meet someone.

We decided to meet that someone here in the newly opened Gaisano Grand Mall Toledo.

Unexpected Trip To Dumanjug

I am scrutinizing my drive D with pictures on it. While looking at the album Bantayan Island, I just missed summer days. Yesterday was the last season of summer. Today is June, it's school time but no, I am not studying. I am just going to stay at home doing my online job. I will give you a tour with my snapshots.


This is Sta. Fe Beach Club. You can see this when you are already near the port. With this clear water, it makes me jump off the ferry.

Successful First Cebu Blog Camp

Just arrived home at 9:00 pm from the city. After the blog camp, Bonjovax, Kevin and Mark dropped me at Colon. I went dinner with my partner at Mang Inasal, he was from work and decided to meet up. After the dinner, we walked going to Cebu South Bus Terminal for it is a weekend and I am tired for a two-ride jeep going home. It is a weekend so there were lots of people going to their respective provinces and that is why I arrived late.

I thought I was going to be alone at the Cebu Blog Camp because I never knew anyone personally until I found Mark Anthony Razonable (a fellow Technologian from Cebu Institute of Technology and a former IT student now ECE) with a six days old blog, waiting outside CAP auditorium, who was waiting for Kevin Ray Chua and Bonjovax (one of the creators of Bisdak Revolution), they're all Technologians.

Baliad in Bantayan Island

Baliad is the local term for oyster. From Wikipedia, the word oyster is used as a common name for a number of distinct groups of bivalve molluscs which live in marine or brackish habitats. The valves are highly calcified.


From the beach, we passed by these people who greeted us that evening. There were busy cooking for their 'pulutan'. We wondered what it was and they introduced us this kind of food that is cooked through fire.


Baliad is nice to cook with fire than steaming or with boiled-water. It is better to make fire with withered coconut husks than using an ordinary firewood. It is easy to cook because it is easy to identify. If the meat will separate from the shell, it is already cooked.

My boyfriend was ready for the first bite of baliad.

How To Get To Bantayan Island?

This is how to get to Bantayan Island especially if you want to stay in Sugar Beach Resort. Here are the contact numbers if you want to have reservation: 09217755058 and 09305162366.

* If you are in Colon Street, take a ride on a jeepney to North Bus Terminal with a route number of 01K. If you are wealthy enough, a taxi can take you there.

* Upon arriving on the terminal, look for the bus that is going to Hagnaya. You can choose any of these buses, Auto Bus and Ceres Liner. The fare cost Php50.00 only. If you don't want to take a bus, a taxi or a van for hire can take you there but it is more expensive.

* Make sure you have all your foodies with you in case you are going to get hungry just for snacks. The land transportation takes 3 hours. Anyway, if you are a rice eater, the bus will have a stop-over either in Danao or Bogo.

* If you're in Bogo already, that means you are already near in Hagnaya. The ferry schedules are 6:30, 7:30, 8:30, 9:30, 10:30 for the morning. In the afternoon, the last ferry boat is scheduled for 5:30. The fare cost Php140.00. The sea transportation takes 1 and 1/2 hour.

* Upon arriving in the island of Bantayan, drivers of multicab and pedicab will welcome you to bring you to your destined resort. A pedicab cost Php10.00 every person and a multicab is Php20.00.

* One thing, if you arrived in Hagnaya port beyond 5:30 pm, you can take the pump boat for Php300.00 to Php400.00.

College Reunion in Sugar Beach Resort

My classmates or schoolmates in college planned for a reunion. They are all graduates except me but we belong to the same batch during the first year. Well, you already knew the reason why I stopped if you have read some of my posts in the past.

I have relatives in Sta. Fe at Bantayan Island so I was interested to join the reunion because I never had the time to come back since my family has no budget to bring all of us for the Holy Week. I asked for my father if his older brother, who is my uncle, knew someone in Sugar Beach Resort so that we could have a discount. My uncle once lived at the back of the resort so I sent him an sms and asked him and the discount was granted.

We were consists of 16 people and we rented the duplex room worth Php1,800.00 good for 10 person (Php2,000 during peak season) and Php40.00 for additional person.

If you have your own tents, it is Php100.00 per day. By the way, the entrance fee is Php35.00.

I was here before in the resort together with my family and relatives. I just love the beach here because the sand is so wide and you will also going to love it. If you are planning to come here with your friends for an overnight, the budget would be Php1,500.00. The said amount is totally safe. From North Bus Terminal which is Php50.00 and the ferry is Php140.00, a total of Php 380.00 for back and forth.

Summer Getaway in Tubod Flowing Water Resort

My classmates during high school, who just graduated last March 26, 2010 in Cebu Institute of Technology, invited me for summer after-graduation party together with their other classmates at Tubod Flowing Water Resort in Tubod, Minglanilla, Cebu. This was also our time to be together since the day I quit studying at the same school and looked for a job. I am still 3rd year college level. That was also the time I gave them my very late Christmas gift because there were so busy with their thesis. Hahahaha!


We had a very good time at the resort. We never had the chance to use the big pool because the people are so few and it was Holy Week. The pool we used is the pool at the back. The water was so cool there.

The entrance fee for the adult is Php100.00, I think for the child is Php80.00. Enjoy summer! ^_^

Kabanhawan Festival 2010

We had fun with my friends at Kabanhawan Festival 2010 in Minglanilla. There were a lot of people so it was hard for us to find a good place with a perfect view.

The ritual showdown was participated by nine different schools from elementary to high school of the town such as Minglanilla National Science High School, Tulay National High School, Vito National High School, Guindarohan National High School, Tubod National High School, Minglanilla Central School and I forgot some schools. Hehehe! Sorry!


But anyways, it was very fun to be there. It was the time that I had bonding with my friends. We enjoyed the local variety show of ABS-CBN and laughed with the people who were participating the contest to get the prizes.

Yesterday was Maundy Thursday. My mom, my sister and I went to seven churches for a visit. We went to Cebu City first. We went to these churches respectively: Sto. Rosario Church, Cebu Cathedral Church, Basilica del Sto. Niño Church in Cebu City, Birhen sa Guadalupe Church in Guadalupe, Lourdes Parish Church in Punta Princesa, Labangon, Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in Minglanilla, and lastly St. Francis de Assisi in Naga.
